CAUSE FOR CONCERN The water level in ponds of Indore low due to less rainfall

Indore: The levels of water in the ponds here are down to a level sufficient to cause concern as the city so far witnessed very lesser rainfall compared to the same period in the previous years. This phenomenon has continued since the arrival of the South-West Monsoon monsoon in the city last month. Almost one month has passed after the onset of the monsoon but the rainfall so far is way below the expectations of the people and the predictions of the meteorological department. This year about 4 inches of rainfall have been recorded so far against 8 inches of rainfall until July 14 last year. Water level in city's ponds§ The Chhota Bilawali pond is all dry whereas the level of water in the Bada Bilawali was 19.4 inches as on July 14 against its capacity of 34 inches§ Last year on July 14 the water level in the Bada Bilawali pond was 23 inches§ Similarly the water level in the Bada Sirpur is 7 inches and in Chhota Sirpur 8.8 inches against their intake capacity of 16 inches and 13 inches last year§ Last year till July 14 Chhota Sirpur had filled to its capacity while the level of water was 12 inches in Bada Sirpur.
