Plans to expand industrial areas to boost investment

Indore: Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC) has planned to expand industrial areas in Dhar, Dewas and Ratlam to attract investment from industries.To add land parcels, MPIDC has applied to the district administration for land transfer in Ujjain for developing new industrial areas in the region.MPIDC Indore executive director Rajesh Rathod said, The aim is to get scattered investment in the region rather than most investments concentrating at one or two locations.There are many potential locations in the region, and we are developing areas that will suit the requirements of industries.MPIDC has planned to come up with phase two in Jetapur in Dhar on around 220 hectare land. The department aims to add private land from nearby two villages--- Lalbagh and Basvi. The extension is planned near the existing industrial area in Jetapur.We have identified some land parcels in Jetapur for developing industrial areas. Many industries have shown interest in investing in this region, and most are looking for undeveloped industrial areas, Rathod said.MPIDC has also mapped out development of new industrial areas in Shajapur, Agar-Malwa and Maksi phase 2. Production at six major auto component units, including Lucas TVS, Wheels India, Sundram Fasteners, Sundaram Clayton, and Brakes India, was affected for the third consecutive day due to heavy rains. The Ambattur-Padi industrial cluster in Chennai, which houses these facilities, remained inundated with water and without power supply. Automotive majors, such as Hyundai, Renault Nissan, and Daimler, have resumed operations in phases after disruptions caused by the cyclone.
