BJP banks on new face, Cong on development

Indore: BJP is banking on anti-incumbency to wrest Kalapipal seat in Shajapur district while Congress is confident of winning it again based on development work carried out in the area.Voters in Kalapipal constituency have voted for a new MLA in every election. They have never repeated an MLA so far. This goes in favour of BJP candidate, Ghanshyam Chandravanshi, who is a new face.The organisations strength and his connection with people would help us in wresting this seat from Congress, Shajapur district BJP media cell in-charge Vijay Joshi told TOI.Kalapipal, a Khatti voter dominated constituency, came into existence in 2008 after delimitation and went for the polls the same year. BJPs Babulal Verma won it with a margin of 13232 votes. In 2013, BJPs Inder Singh Parmar won the seat with a margin of 9753 votes. Congress stopped BJPs victory run in 2018 with partys Kunal Choudhary defeating Verma with a margin of 13699 votes.This time, Congress has again relied on Choudhary. Kunal Choudhary will win the election based on developmental work done in the last five years. Choudhary got the work of two dams, roads, community halls, and panchayat offices done in the area. The Congress party has expressed its opposition to Indias abstention on a recent UN resolution regarding the Israeli ground offensive against Hamas, which did not mention Hamas actions against innocent civilians. The BJP has also criticized the silence of Congress and CPM on Hamas leader Khalid Mashals virtual participation in a conference in Kerala.Row over BJPs Ram Mandir poll posters, Congress complains to ECThe Congress party has filed a complaint with the Election Commission against the BJP for using photographs of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir in its posters. In response, the BJP asked if the Congress has a problem with the word Ram. The war of words between the two parties escalated, with BJP leaders highlighting the Congress visits to temples during election campaigns. The BJP defended the use of Ram Mandir in its posters, stating that it represents the faith of millions of people in the state.
