Indore: In a bid to provide more accurate and localised weather predictions, the states meteorological department will commence area-specific forecasting services, after its initial rollout in Bhopal. The new initiative is set to be introduced in December and is expected to cater to the unique weather patterns and microclimates across various parts of the city. The meteorological department has outlined a comprehensive plan to provide precise weather forecasts for the Indore district by dividing the region into five or six distinct segments. This segmentation includes key areas such as the Airport and Juni-Indore, focusing on the urban zones, while also extending coverage to the surrounding outskirts, encompassing localities like Sanwer, Depalpur, and Mhow. The area wise forecast for Bhopal is divided into six segments, including north Bhopal, North-Central Bhopal, Central Bhopal, South West and East-Bhopal and South Bhopal. With the help of advanced technology today we are able to take significant leap forward in meteorology too. With area-specific forecasting, we can provide more accurate and localized weather predictions, allowing residents to plan their activities with greater precision. said Dr Vedprakash Singh, senior meteorologist from Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Bhopal. The weatherman emphasized that while the Met stations are strategically positioned in the city for presence, technological advancements now enable the department to provide area-specific forecasts and meteorological data through radar and satellites, eliminating the need for establishing any additional met stations in these areas. This data will be processed by advanced meteorological models, enabling meteorologists to produce forecasts that account for localized weather patterns and changes, improving the overall accuracy of predictions. So far, the city has been relying on the Met station at Indore airport for forecast and met data. However, many a times various parts of the city have demonstrated distinct weather conditions at the same time especially during the monsoon season. The area wise forecast service will include, maximum and minimum temperatures of the city segment wise of present day and prediction for next four days. It will also include weather forecast including rainfall chances, humidity, fog intensity and other winter weather features such as mist, haze, ground frost, cold waves, heat waves etc.We also published the following articles recentlyIMD forecasts unusual rain and thunderstormsThe India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Goa has issued a warning about an approaching weather system that will bring changes to the region.
