Over ₹2 lakh cash seized from BJP ex-MLA’s son

Indore: A surveillance team seized Rs 2.3 lakh from the son of former BJP MLA Gopal Parmar on Monday night during a check at Ujjain Road square in Agar-Malwa district.The surveillance team was on foot, checking vehicles entering the district, when they spotted a white SUV with the name plate of the ex-MLA, BJP coming from Ujjain on Monday night.The vehicle was stopped and a search yielded Rs 2.3 lakh.The ex-MLAs son, Keshav Parmar, was driving the vehicle at that time.Police asked him about the source of money, but he failed to give a satisfactory reply. The team seized the cash and sent it to the district committee for further action, said subdivisional police officer Motilal Kushwaha, adding that the name plate of the former MLA was removed from the vehicle.Parmar now has to submit a source of income to the committee within the next week to get the money released or a case would be registered against him, say officials.The authorities have seized around Rs 9 crore and registered 19 cases since implementation of the model code of conduct. The suspects were involved in transporting stolen luxury cars to the northeastern states. The gang used a specially designed screwdriver to break open car locks and a software tab to generate duplicate keys. The stolen vehicles were strategically parked to ascertain the presence of GPS tracking devices. The gang members confessed to identifying specific make and color vehicles and selling them to meet the demand in the northeastern states.
