State pre-board exams unlikely this year

Indore: Students in state board schools in class 10 and 12 are unlikely to have a pre-board examination this year. The state education department is in a fix and is expected to skip pre board exams due to the postponement of half-yearly exams.Scheduled for October, the half-yearly exams will now happen in December due to the upcoming assembly polls.This leaves no time forpre-board exams, as the board exam is slated to begin in February. About 2,500 teachers in Indore are currently engaged in election duties, making it tougher to manage the exams, resulting in postponement of the exams.There are chances that the education department will likely not conduct the pre-board exams, sources from the department said.We are yet to take a final decision on conducting the pre-board examination for class 10 and 12. The final decision on this will be taken after the elections. Students should not worry as the decision will be beneficial for them, directorate of public instruction, joint director Rajeev Tomar said.The government school principals from the city said that post the half yearly exams in December there will be less time to conduct the pre-boards. In January, students will be busy practicing the model question papers uploaded on the Vimarsh portal. The schedule includes various subjects such as Teaching of English Language, Understanding the Psychology of Children, Education in Contemporary Indian Society, and more.
