New specialized courses in 2024

Indore: Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) is set to introduce new specialized degree and value-added courses in 2024.The expansion includes specialization in BSc, BTech, and MBA programs across various institutes, including IET, IMS, IIPS, and the School of Commerce. Many of these courses align with the Common University Entrance Test (CUET), emphasizing their national relevance.After approval from the standing committee of the university, these courses, set to commence in 2024, encompass diverse disciplines such as BSc Horticulture, BTech in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, BTech Space Technology, MTech in Robotics, BBA in Business Analytics, MBA in Business Analytics, MBA in Pharmaceutical Management and BSc in Cyber Security-Maths Computer combination.Discussions are ongoing for introducing additional subjects and value-added courses for the next session. It is crucial for any institute from the point of view of NAAC assessment also. There are plans to diversify the subject offerings in UTDs for enhanced scope in placements as per the modern day demands. The courses will soon be finalised as university will need to get those subjects added for CUET UG and PG, DAVV spokesperson Dr Chandan Gupta said. The laboratory will be the first drone forensic lab in Uttar Pradesh and will also serve as a repair and assembling center for drones. The university has signed a memorandum of understanding with Drone Van, a drone technology company, to provide training and research opportunities in drone technology. The lab is currently funded by the university and the collaborating company, but they plan to seek government funding and collaborate with other companies in the future.To meet Sustainable Development Goals , 260 institutes to offer courses in climate changeThe Indian home ministry has established a network of 260 universities and colleges to offer courses on climate change and disaster risk reduction (DRR). The network, led by the National Institute of Disaster Management, aims to promote education, research, and capacity development in these areas. The curriculum for undergraduate and postgraduate courses has been approved by the University Grants Commission, and at least five fully funded PhD projects will be awarded this year. The initiative is part of the governments commitment to reduce disaster deaths and economic losses by 2030.Private & govt-aided colleges can apply for new coursesPrivate and aided colleges in Haryana are now allowed to apply for new courses and subjects for the upcoming academic session. The process must be completed within the next two weeks, according to guidelines issued by the directorate of higher education. After approval from the directorate, colleges must also apply to their affiliated university. The colleges can only launch the new courses and begin admissions once the university accepts the proposal. NEP2020 will be implemented in colleges and universities, giving students more flexibility in choosing their subjects.
