Indore: The city experienced a surge in outdoor activities over the pleasant cloudy weekend, with residents making the most of an extended weekend due to Monday being a holiday. Families and friends were spotted at various picnic spots and the Kamla Nehru Prani Sangrahalay, commonly known as the Indore Zoo, emerged as a top choice for children and families.The zoo witnessed a remarkable footfall, with 14,000 visitors on Sunday and 8,000 on Saturday. The influx of visitors showcased the enthusiasm of the city residents to spend quality time outdoors, taking advantage of the delightful weather and the rare three-day weekend.The weekend witnessed a number of visitors in the zoo. Even during the evening hours when it started raining, the rush was at peak, said Uttam Yadav, Indore zoo incharge. The weekend explorations led families flocking to historic landmarks also like Lalbagh Palace and Rajwada, alongside other picnic spots. Local eateries and popular food streets like Chappan Dukan and Sarafa also saw increased patronage, echoing the citys weekend vibe. The weather added to the charm, making it a memorable family day, said Shalini Mukati, a resident who visited the zoo on Sunday along with her family. The Rajwada and Lalbagh Palace were our choices as me and my kids had never been to these places and it was heartening to see so many families enjoying their time.
