Fire in pole causes panic

Indore: A major mishap was averted because of promptness of commuters in Vrindavan colony on Monday night, when an electric pole caught fire.The fire created panicamong commuters and residents as the electric pole and cable attached to it was bursting like crackers with flames coming out of it. The incident took place at around 9 pm leading to a traffic jam on the main road connecting the colony.When the fire tenders reached the spot, the fire was doused because of a power cut. The fire had erupted in a three-bedroom residence on the 12th floor, suspected to have originated from a short circuit near the hall entrance. One of the family members, the male occupant, experienced health issues due to smoke inhalation but is learnt to be out of danger. The woman was found trapped in the washroom and unconscious. She was promptly shifted to a nearby hospital in an ambulance, but despite immediate medical attention, she later passed away. The Fire and Emergency Department received a distress call about the incident at around 5 am and a team from the Pandeshwar Fire Station arrived at the scene.
