SEAC may hold 16 meetings to speed up re-appraisal

Indore: State Expert Appraisal Committee (SEAC) would hold up to 16 meetings in a month as against eight earlier to speed up re-appraisal of environmental clearance issued by District Environment Impact Assessment Authority (DEIAA) to stone mine and mineral projects of Madhya Pradesh.So far, the committee has received close to 150 applications for reappraisals out of around 2600 mine and mineral projects of the state that have to obtain reappraisals of the existing environmental clearance issued by the DEIAA in compliance to the National Green Tribunal (NGT) order dated December 7, 2022. The committee plans to consider at least 15-20 cases of re-appraisals in a single meeting. The cases will be re-appraised on the basis of 15 criteria after which a fresh environmental clearance will be granted by MP state level environment impact assessment authority (SEIAA) .Madhya Pradesh SEAC chairman Dr PC Dubey said, The technical committee may now hold up to 16 meetings as against eight meetings in a month earlier depending upon the cases to expedite the process of re-appraisals. We are planning to take up 15-20 cases in a meeting.
