662 civil dispute cases taken up in 50 districts for resolution via mediation

Indore: Community Mediation Centres (CMCs) functional across 50 districts have taken up 662 cases till October this year, providing solution in civil dispute matters through trained mediators since its inception. CMCs have been operating in the state for the last couple of years taking up 662 cases for hearing till October this year. Of them, 276 cases were settled and 64 are pending till October, showed MPSLSA records.CMC is a mechanism promoted and implemented jointly by Madhya Pradesh State Legal Service Authority (MPSLSA) and Main Mediation Monitoring Committee to provide for mediation and settlement of conflicts in society at grassroot level through volunteers. MPSLSA member secretary Ratnesh Chandra Bishen told TOI, Community Mediation Centres are operating across districts in Madhya Pradesh with centres in Indore performing well. The cases cropping up before these CMCs are discussed in a meeting in Jabalpur.In Indore, a total of 347 cases were referred to CMCs. Of them, 91 cases were settled. The CMCs in Satna district settled 112 cases out of 149 referred to them. Sixteen cases out of 35 were settled by CMCs in Jabalpur, showed records. The CMCs deal with cases related to civil disputes like property, familial conflict between husband, wife, parents, son, siblings, divorce and other issues. In MP, there are 20 lakh pending cases, including 3.97 civil cases as on December 1, showed National Judicial Data Grid dashboard. Of them, over 45,000 civil cases have been pending for over three years.CMCs are run by Community Mediation Volunteers (CMV), who are trained after being nominated by sponsoring social organisation that are different social, religious, cultural groups and organisation like NSS, residence associations and flat owners society among others. MPSLSA trained 344 CMVs belonging to different caste and religion. The police have filed an offence against him for showing disrespect to a human corpse. The incident occurred in the Badi Gwaltoli area. The accused removed the body from the hospital after his mothers demise. Two students captured the incident on a mobile phone and reported it to the police.
