Indore Metro trial run to resume, laying of second line in full swing

Indore: Indore Metro project, which has in recent past picked up some pace, is expecting to restart trial run on both the tracks of around 6km-long super priority corridor after receiving another train of three coaches in days to come.According to senior MP Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MPMRCL) officials, the trains trial run, which was inaugurated by CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan on September 30, continued for next few days before the teams of engineers and workers started lying down second track in this around 6km-long super priority corridor to run the trains in both the directions.The work of laying down the second track in said around 6 km-long stretch is in the final stage while another train of three coaches is expected to arrive by next couple of weeks, a senior official claimed.He added that after completing both the tracks and arrival of the new coaches, both the trains will be plied in both the directions to resolve the issues, if arise any, in completing the trial run.The trial run was halted due to the third-rail (electricity) system, which has been situated next to the track to supply power to the train, as safety measures during lying down the second track, the senior official said, adding that work to lay down first track between ISBT to Vijay Nagar Square on the elevated corridor has also been initiated while traffic has been diverted between Hotel Radisson Square and Robot Square to launch girders on the elevated corridor.The authority is expected to start erecting an elevated corridor towards Khajrana square after IDA completes an under-construction flyover at this square. In the flyovers construction, provision has been given for the Metro Rails elevated corridor. The first ring of around 31.5 km that will cover the city through a circle is expected to be completed in the next two years, the senior officials said.We also published the following articles recentlyChennai Metro Rail to run more trains on SundaysChennai Metro Rail Limited has revised the train timings, making metro trains available every seven minutes instead of 10 minutes on Sunday afternoons and evenings. The revised Sunday timetable is designed to cater to the increasing footfalls at the stations. Trains will now be available every 10 minutes from 5am to noon and from 8pm to 10pm. Between noon and 8pm, trains will operate in seven-minute intervals. Additionally, there will be a train every 15 minutes between 10pm and 11pm. This change was implemented due to the significant increase in passengers traveling on Sundays.Trial run on Coimbatores Periyanaickenpalayam flyover to start on Dec 11Construction of Periyanaickenpalayam flyover in Coimbatore is almost complete. The National Highways wing plans to open it for a trial run on December 11. However, the installation of lights on the flyover was not included in the project. NH officials are seeking funds to install lights. The construction of the flyover took longer than expected, causing inconvenience to motorists. Going forward, the NH wing should include the construction of storm water drainage and lights in the project.Mumbai: Trial run for launching of Gokhale girder successfulThe trial run for launching the completed first phase Open Web Girder (OWG) for Gokhale bridge in Mumbais Andheri has been successfully completed. The new ROB is being constructed at a cost of around Rs. 90 crores. The proposed date for opening up of one phase of Gokhale bridge is February 15, 2024 while the entire bridge will open to motorists only in May 2024. Interestingly, the reconstruction contract for Gokhale bridge was bagged by the same company AB Infrabuild Ltd which is reconstructing the Vidyavihar ROB.
