Indore: Madhya Pradesh Paschim Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company Limited (MPPKVVCL) has identified around one lakh domestic connections in Indore-Ujjain division that has been showing zero unit power consumption for at least the last three months. According to MPPKVVCL MD Amit Tomar, there are around 1 lakh domestic connections under its jurisdiction of Malwa-Nimar region including about 30,000 connections in Indore district has been identified that are showing zero unit consumption from at least last three months and therefore, the ground teams have been instructed for physical verification of the same.The senior officials are expecting some of the connections would be in the newly-developed residential areas, where the buyers have either purchased houses for investment purposes or have yet not started residing. Officials are expecting maximum cases of possible power thefts, in which, bills of the consumption and penalty will be recovered based on reporting the violations in the verification.The power company has launched a drive to recover around Rs 150 crore of pending electricity bills from around 1.25 lakh non-domestic consumers for their not clearing the dues from last more than two months. Most of them are stated to have gone defaulters during the assembly polls as they were expecting any waiver or other relief in their electricity bills, the sources claimed.In Indore district, there are around 20,000 such non-domestic power consumers with dues of about Rs 20 crore, senior officials said.
