Indore: Multiple LPG cylinders stocked in utensils shop blasted off during refilling in Kshipra on Friday evening. The blasts left two injured and destroyed three shops.The fire spread rapidly leading to destruction of three shops. Walls of one of the shops collapsed and the roof also blasted off.Manish Patel, a resident of Lohar Pipliya sells small gas burners and utensils in his shop, and he refills LPG in small cylinders.When he was refilling one of the cylinders, there was a blast in the cylinder. He had stored eight cylinders of two, five and 14 kg weight, Kshipra police station in-charge GS Mahobiya said.A salon owner Arjun Verma told police that he heard an explosion and found the shop adjoining his salon on fire. Acrid smoke was rising from the shop and all of us rushed to the area and rescued two men from inside. As we came out, one after other cylinders started blasting off. There was a sudden blast in one of the bigger cylinders and the fire spread rapidly. By the time fire tenders reached the spot, nearby shops had already caaught fire, he said.Verma said that it took a long for the fire brigades from Indore, Sanwer and Dewas to control the blaze. Manish Patel and Vishal Navliya who were injured in the accident were rushed to Dewas district hospital. Sanwer SDM Gopal Singh Verma said that the shopkeeper was refilling small cylinders from the bigger ones illegally. Action will be taken against him, police said.
