Indore: The police have arrested a young couple in the case of double murder that was reported from Aerodrome area on Saturday.Bodies of a man and a woman were found with their throats slit in the area on Saturday evening. The police said that the couple had accepted committing the crime claiming that the victim had made an objectionable video of the accused woman and was blackmailing her to maintain relations with him.Bodies of hotel owner Ravi Thakur, 42 and his female friend Sarita Thakur, 38, who operated a beauty parlour, were found in Saritas house in Ashok Nagar on Saturday evening, additional DCP Alok Sharma said. While Ravi was found lying on the ground naked with his throat slit, Sarita was found dead on the bed and a sword used to kill them was also found at the spot.More than 50 people were questioned and footage from over 125 CCTVs in the area was checked. Police had received information that locals had seen a man and a woman leave from the house in afternoon. The team conducted a technical analysis of mobile towers and last calls made by victims based on which one Mamta alias Pinki and her husband Nitin were arrested late at night, Sharma said.During interrogation, the accused couple accepted committing the crime because Ravi had been forcing Mamta to maintain physical relations with him, blackmailing her using an objectionable video of them, he said.Sharma said that Ravi Thakur, a resident of Nanda Nagar, knew Sarita for the past few years as both belonged to the same community. Ravi was a regular at her home for the past five years. He was married and had four children but had illicit relations with several women.Sarita had come in contact with Mamta some time ago during their trip to Vaishnodevi and had become friends with her. She introduced Ravi to Mamta and he maintained physical relations with her. He also made an objectionable video of her and was using it to force her into maintaining physical relation with him. When Nitin came to know about this, the couple entered into a dispute but later agreed to kill Ravi. Since Mamta held Sarita responsible for spoiling her life, she decided to kill her as well, Sharma said adding the couple had been planning to commit the crime for the past one month. On Saturday, they left their home at around noon and reached Saritas home in Ashok Nagar changing two vehicles to avoid suspicion. The accused used a knife to kill the woman first. They also used a sword kept in a temple at Saritas house to slit her throat.Mamta then called Ravi to the spot by promising to maintain physical relation with him. She then blindfolded him and Nitin, who was hiding in one of the rooms, came out and held his hands while Mamta slit his throat. The couple then dragged Ravis body to bedroom and left the spot. They disposed of mobile phones of the victim and other belongings at an empty plot near their house and went back home with the conviction that the law wont catch up with them.Sharma said that the accused were produced in the court and taken on remand for questioning. The evidence disposed of by them has been recovered, he said.Ravi Thakurs family members also reached Indore police control room at Regal square in large numbers on Sunday as the accused were paraded in front of the media. His brother, Golu Verma, told mediapersons that his brother did not have any illicit relations with any women. He had lent Rs seven lakh to Nitin and his wife and since they did not want to return the money, they committed the crime. They claimed that the gold and silver jewellery worn by the man was also not found at the spot.
