KANPUR: In an incident that has sent shock waves here, unidentified assailants allegedly shot dead two sisters, aged 18 and 15, in Basrehar police station area of Etawah district in UP.The police rushed to the spot and shifted the bodies to mortuary for post-mortem examination before launching an investigation.The girls - identified as Sandhya and her younger sister Shalu, daughters of Ram Kishore Shakya of Kelamau village - had gone to the answer nature's call on late Monday at around 8.30pm when they were apparently shot dead, police said."We have recovered the bullet-riddled bodies of the girls from the spot. The sisters, as per their parents, had gone to answer the nature's call on late Monday evening when they went missing. They launched a search in the village, in vain. However, the next morning, they were found dead on the outskirts of the village," said station house officer Basrehar Vinay Diwakar. Diwakar added, "At present, we are questioning the girls’ family to find out if they had enmity with anyone, which probably could be the reason behind the teens' murder.”The incident came to light on Tuesday morning after the villagers went to relieve themselves. They immediately informed their parents who rushed to the spot and after identifying them immediately alerted the local police."We received a call in the morning from locals, who informed us about their murder. We don't have any enmity with anyone in the village. We couldn't understand, why anybody would kill my daughters and that too in such a gruesome manner," father of the deceased girls said sobbing.The police registered an FIR under Section 302 of IPC against unidentified persons on the complaint of the girls' parents."The minor girl was shot twice while her elder sister who had cleared her High School education bore a single gun shot wound. A forensic team reached the spot and after conducting extensive investigation, collected some vital evidences from the spot.Later, their bodies were dispatched to mortuary for autopsy and investigations are continuing for an early breakthrough," said senior superintendent of police Etawah Ashok Tripathi."In order to ascertain, whether the minors' were sexually assaulted before being shot dead, we are waiting for the post-mortem report," added another official privy to the investigations.
