Yogi Adityanath kicks off Kanpur-Delhi SpiceJet flight

The flight from Kanpur was inaugurated by Yogi and Union minister Suresh Prabhu. "Therefore, Kanpur must get air connectivity with other major cities of the country and some international destinations. Joshi said that air connectivity with Delhi and other cities would enhance business in city. As the flight from delhi landed at the airport, Kanpur was put back on the country's air map after over 13 months.After a brief stay, the flight took off for Delhi on return journey. Similarly, Kanpur airport will be linked with Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Surat, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kolkata airports, he added.He was speaking at a function held at Chakeri airport to mark beginning of Delhi-Kanpur SpiceJet flight from the city.

KANPUR: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday urged civil aviation minister Suresh Prabhu and Central government to develop Hindon and Jewar airports at Ghaziabad and Gautam Buddha Nagar respectively as civil airports as it will ease pressure on Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. He said in future Hindon/Jewar airports will be connected with UP's Allahabad and Varanasi airports. Similarly, Kanpur airport will be linked with Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Surat, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kolkata airports, he added.He was speaking at a function held at Chakeri airport to mark beginning of Delhi-Kanpur SpiceJet flight from the city. Union minister Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti, BJP MP Murli Manohar Joshi and state ministers Nand Gopal Nandi and Satish Mahana were also present.Speaking on the occasion, Yogi said the launch of Eastern-Peripheral Expressway has made access to IGI airport smooth and easy from Ghaziabad. Funds have been released for construction of airport and a terminal at Kushinagar, he added.The CM said air connectivity plays an important role in the development of the region. "This industrial city will be benefited by such air services which will help boosting business and trade, unlocking region's tourism potential and enabling fast medical service," Yogi said.Yogi said as centre of defence corridor, Kanpur would soon be the biggest defence goods supplier. Besides, as the city is a hub of leather, textile goods, etc., it has great potential to generate new business as well as employment. "Therefore, Kanpur must get air connectivity with other major cities of the country and some international destinations. This would not only save the time of businessmen, but also enhance business opportunities in the city," he added.Chairman and managing director of SpiceJet, Ajay Singh, said the flight would continue and Kanpur would be soon connected with other major cities of the country.Earlier, Prabhu said in absence of air connectivity, development of Kanpur had been stalled. He said air cargo policies were being prepared and there was possibility that cargo planes would be operated between different air fields in night. He too stressed that Kanpur should be connected with other major cities. Joshi said that air connectivity with Delhi and other cities would enhance business in city.
