Rs 17 crore to be used to tap all nullahs flowing into Ganga

KANPUR: District magistrate Kanpur Nagar Vijay Vishwas Pant , on Thursday, said fund of Rs 17 crore had been given to Jal Nigam by the state government and it would be used to tap all the nullahs discharging their effluent in river Ganga. He said the number of pumps should be enhanced and second pump should be ignited if flow of tannry discharge increases.He also inspected Sheetala Bazar pumping station and Wazidpur CETP. "He asked the officials of pollution control board to give a report about primary treatment plants in tanneries.

KANPUR: District magistrate Kanpur Nagar Vijay Vishwas Pant , on Thursday, said fund of Rs 17 crore had been given to Jal Nigam by the state government and it would be used to tap all the nullahs discharging their effluent in river Ganga. The discharge of the nullahs would be treated in Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP), he added.The DM, along with other officials, conducted a random inspection of pumping station of Jajmau and witnessed all proceedings minutely on Thursday afternoon. Talking to reporters, he said, "A new treatment plant for all tanneries of Jajmau would be set up soon and its proposal would be based on the state of art technique. Central government as well as the state government had given consent to raise a new treatment plant exclusively for Jajnau tanneries."He asked the officials of pollution control board to give a report about primary treatment plants in tanneries.
