KANPUR: The Jal nigam office at Benajhabar area of the city witnessed high drama on Friday whens Samajwadi Party MLA from Arya Nagar Amitabh Bajpai handed over his gold chain, gold ring and his wifes 'mangal sutra' to chief engineer jal nigam Anil Gupta against the bill of Rs 1.30 lakh sent to him by an assistant engineer of jal nigam for laying water pipes in various pockets coming under his assembly constituency.The routine work at the jal nigam office was disturbed when the SP MLA barged inside the cabin of the chief engineer, and handed to him his gold chain, gold ring and his wife's 'mangalsutra' for purchasing water pipes against the bill he had received from assistant engineer of jal nigam.Later, the MLA told mediapersons that following hardships being faced by the people, he had recently asked jal nigam officials to lay water pipes in Patkapur, Chamra Mandi and Talaq Mahal areas which come under his assembly constituency.
