KANPUR: A 20-year-old woman was allegedly forced to drink some poisonous substance and later gangraped by four men in a moving car at a village in Sachendi area of Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.Police said the survivor’s parents lodged a complaint at the local police station on Tuesday night, whereas the woman was raped on September 20. Three suspects have been detained for questioning by the police while the fourth accused is still at large, the police added.According to the parents, their daughter along with other women had gone to bring ‘prasad’ from ‘bhandara’ (feast) in the village on the evening of September 20, but did not return. A search was lodged to find her but in vain. On September 21 morning, the family found the survivor lying in an unconscious state in the backyard of their house.“The woman was admitted to city’s Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital. After regaining consciousness, she told her parents that her friends lured her to a desolate spot, where the accused were waiting for her in a car. The four dragged her into the vehicle and forced her to drink some poisonous substance. They later took turns to rape her,” said Raghvendra Singh, SHO-Sachendi.After raping her, the car-borne men threw her close to her house and fled, he added. They also threatened the survivor of dire consequences if she told anybody about the incident.“We have recorded the woman’s statement. An FIR has been registered under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code and we are questioning the three suspects,” said Ravi Kumar Singh, CO Sadar.
