Six injured in pile-up on fogged out Panki highway

The accident happened near Sarai Mita village in Panki police area on Panki highway, police said.“Pile-up of half-a-dozen vehicles took place early Friday. KANPUR: Six people were injured in a collision of half-a-dozen vehicles on the busy Panki highway in the city on Friday morning following heavy fog.The traffic was thrown out of gear for nearly three hours on the stretch of road. It took nearly two-and-a-half hours to restore traffic on the highway. A loader driver on way to Ramadevi applied sudden brakes due to reduced visibility in heavy fog, leading to a pile-up of more than half-a-dozen vehicles on the highway,” said SHO Panki Shesh Narain Pandey.Around half-a-dozen people have sustained injuries in the accident, he added. “We will ensure deployment of police personnel at the spot, besides more measures like installation of reflectors, will be adopted to avoid such accidents in future,” said SP Traffic Sushil Kumar.

It took nearly two-and-a-half hours to restore traffic on the highway. We have launched a manhunt to nab the loader driver,” he said. “We will ensure deployment of police personnel at the spot, besides more measures like installation of reflectors, will be adopted to avoid such accidents in future,” said SP Traffic Sushil Kumar.
