Kidney racket: Police wants Red Corner notice against Delhi-based doctor

Rao said Kaushik used to meet him at different location each time.” Kanpur: Four days after busting the multi-crore kidney transplant racket, police are all set to request the Centre to get a Red Corner Notice (RCN) issued against Delhi-based medical practitioner and key accused in the scam, Dr Ketan Kaushik, for more information about his international clientele.A Red Corner Notice is issued by the Interpol and calls for location and provisional arrest of a criminal not present in the country. “We want an RCN against Kaushik as he had a very wide offshore network and there are chances that he may have fled abroad,” said another police official privy to the investigation.Donors and recipients involved in the racket told police that Kaushik never used to leave any evidence behind to evade arrest. Police said he used to operate from medical stores, kidney hospitals, railway and bus stations and religious shrines, besides restaurants and shopping malls, with the help of his agents.The police said, “The kingpin of the racket T Rajkumar Rao and one of the six arrested on Sunday told police that Kaushik was very clever. Interpol acts on an RCN after a request is made by a member country.“We are in the process of getting in touch with the ministry of foreign affairs and get a RCN issued against Dr Ketan Kaushik, which allows member countries to detain or arrest an accused pending extradition,” said SP (South) Raveena Tyagi.
