Kanpur: The health services at Lala Lajpat Rai hospital remained paralysed for nearly three to four hours after attendants of a patient allegedly manhandled junior doctors (JDs) on duty after the patient died during treatment on Thursday.According to the sources, Vijay Tiwari (65) of Devaha village in Billhaur area of the district was admitted to the hospital around two days before.He was suffering from liver infection and died during treatment on Thursday. After Vijay’s attendants were informed about his death, around 15-20 relatives, who were in an inebriated state, beat up junior doctors on duty there and created ruckus in the ward.“As per junior residents, relatives of the patient barged inside the emergency ward and severely beat up the doctors and other paramedical staff on duty,” said GSVM principal Dr Arti Lal Chandani while talking to TOI.Later, the Kotwali police arrived at the hospital and detained three of the relatives of the deceased patient.Following the incident, doctors assembled at the hospital premises and went on a strike in protest against the incident.
