3 youths drowned in Ganga river, two rescued

The five youths after playing Holi had gone to Jajmau Ganga bridge, where they decided to take a dip in Ganga. Police were informed and a rescue team was pressed into action.Officials said that the spot where the youths slipped is quite deep and there was strong flow of water. Jajmau Police out-post incharge Abdul Kalam said, "The youths were residents of Sanigwan road and their families have been informed about the incident. KANPUR: Five youths, hailing from Sanigwan pocket , while taking a dip in the river Ganga, drowned on Thursday afternoon in Jajmau area of the city.Five youths identified as Rahul Kumar (19), Deepak (20), Rohit (21), Dhannu (25) and Shivam Mishra (23), all residents of Sanigwan road, went into deep river water while taking a dip at Jajmau Ganga bridge on Thursday afternoon and slipped into the water.On hearing the cries of the youths, the locals and the divers jumped into the river to save them. While two were rescued, the search operation to locate the three youngsters is underway."
