DM inspects flood relief camp, interacts with affected people

Kanpur: In view of the rising water level of Ganga in the district, a team of district administration officials, including district magistrate Vishak G Iyer on Sunday visited the control room of the irrigation department at the Ganga Barrage and witnessed the Gangas water level. The team also inspected the flood relief camps set up in Primary School, Kanshiram Nagar, Development Block, Kalyanpur and also visited the affected Bhopal Ka Purwa village.The DM interacted with the 50 people belonging to 15 families of Kanshiram Nagar who have been kept in the flood relief camp and asked them if they had any kind of problem. He asked the irrigation and the revenue departments to jointly ensure round the clock monitoring of rising and decreasing water level of Ganga. In the villages where the water level has decreased, a joint team of the district panchayat and the health departments have been asked to conduct a cleanliness drive, the DM said.The DM has directed the chief medical officer to continuously examine people in the medical health camp, distribute medical kits and chlorine tablets to them and tell them to drink boiled water only. He also asked the veterinary officer to daily examine animals of all the affected families.After the water level subsides, a survey should be done of the damaged crops of the affected villagers and take action to ensure that compensation is given to them as soon as possible, the DM told the tehsildar.
