Kanpur: Body of an Army jawan, 33, hailing from Kanpur was found near the tracks in Ambala. What, however, added a twist to the incident which might have otherwise passed off as mere accident was a WhatsApp message that the slain soldiers wife received. The note read: I have sent your husband to God, Pakistan Zindabad. If the Indian Army can save its soldiers, then save them. The sender of the message sent from a Pakistan-based mobile number didnt identify himself. The family has sought a probe and arrest of the accused.The jawan – Pawan Shankar – was posted in the 40 AD SR unit of the Army in Ambala Cantt since 2020 where he lived with his wife and two daughters. According to Pawans family, the Government Railway Police (GRP), Ambala, probing the case said prima facie, it appeared to be a case of accident but the message that his wife had received will also be thoroughly probed.Meanwhile, a pall of gloom descended on Kailai village of Bhognipur in Kanpur Dehat on Saturday after Pawans mortal remains reached his native place for the last rites. The Army gave a gun-salute to the jawan.According to the family, Pawan had left his house in Ambala on Wednesday evening saying that he was going to a temple and did not return. His cell phone was switched off when his wife tried to contact him.On Saturday morning, the jawans wife, Ragini and cousins Sarvesh and Ankit brought Pawan Shankars body to their native village Kailai. Ambala police are probing the message that was sent to the jawans wife. ASI Balkar Singh, who is investigating the case, said the jawans mobile phone could not be traced yet. Police are investigating the cause of death from every angle, the ASI said.
