As part of KDA drive, officials free 21K sqm of land of ₹45 cr

Kanpur: Under its anti-encroachment drive, Kanpur Development Authority (KDA) on Wednesday got freed around 21000 square metre of land in Barra-6 and Prerna Vihar schemes.The market value of the freed land is around Rs 45 crore. The KDA vice-chairman has directed the officials to put all plots on auction after examining the land record.According to SB Rai, public relations officer, KDA had received several complaints that Vishnu Kumar Yadav alias Pandu Yadav had encroached on the land.The committee set up by the vice-chairman/district magistrate in its report stated that the land occupied by Pandu Yadav belonged to KDA and Yadav was doing business on that land.On the basis of the report, the enforcement team launched a drive under UP Urban Planning and Development Act and first it freed four plots (number 509, 30, 511, 502) having an area of around 5000 square metres.In the next phase, the enforcement squad frees around 1000 square metres of land in which a junk dealer was doing business.The team thereafter moved to Barra village and demolished a dairy and other structures raised on plot numbers 876 and 884.The enforcement squad got freed around 15,000 square metres of land. The enforcement team was led by Sat Shukla, executive engineer, Dhirendra Bajpai, special officer in-charge, Ajay Kumar and other officers.
