Nepal nat’l held for stealinglaptops, mobiles of IIT-K students

Kanpur: A Nepali national was arrested by the Kalyanpur police for allegedly stealing laptops and mobile phones besides other valuables of PhD students of IIT-Kanpur.On the information of the accused, the police have recovered four laptops and other valuables from his hideouts.Laptops, chargers, a mobile phone and a wallet, besides a watch, belonging to PhD students Dhananjay and Abhishek living in Hall no: 7 on Kanpur IIT campus, Anchit Gupta and Chayank Garg, living in hall no: 3, were stolen on September 9.The police, who are investigating the case, arrested Sunauli Nepal resident Sunny Thapa from Bithoor tri-section on Thursday and the four stolen laptops, five laptop chargers, a Titan watch and a Redmi Note 8 mobile phone were recovered. Inspector Kalyanpur Dhananjay Pandey said that the man caught is a vicious thief and is a Nepali national who had already been jailed for theft.
