Kanpur: Meerut Mavericks after scoring highest total of the tournament so far drubbed Lucknow Falcons by 51 runs in the second semifinals of ongoing UP T-20 league here at Green park on Friday. They will clash with Kashi Rudras in the final slated to be held under flood light on Saturday . .Chasing the mammoth total 239 of Meerut ,Lucknow falcons could collect 8 for 188 runs and lost the match.Medium pacer Kartik Tyagi claimed 6 wickets including a hattrick. He had taken two hattricks in this tournament so far.Lucknow lost both openers Shaurya Singh (5) and Harsh Tyagi (5) in 2.2 overs. Aanjaneya Surya Vanshi and Kritagya Singh sfaced rival bowlers confidently. They frustrated Meerut bowlers for some time and added 97 runs in their union for the third wicket. Amitabh Tiwari broke their union claiming Kritagya singh for 61 runs. Kitagya came out for a big hit and missed the line. Wicket keeper Siddiqui stumped him. Krtigya faced 35 balls and hit 3 boundaries and 6 sixes.Three runs later Aanjaney also returned back when medium pacer Kartik took his return catch in the third delivery of his second over. Kartik thereafter scalped Ali Zafar and Hardeep Singh in next two deliveries and completed his second hattrick of the tournament.In very next over he again reached for a hattrick when he picked the wickets of Aaradhya Yadav and Yash Dyal in two successive deliveries but Vikrant chaudhary played him safely and deprived him from second successive hattrick in the match. Vipraj Nigam returned unbeaten on 48 runs.Meerut Mavericks, deciding to bat first, posted a total of 239 runs for 8 in 20 overs which was so far the highest score in this event. Owais and Swastik Chikara gave a flying start to their side scoring 67 runs in just 4.2 overs. Much was expected from Swastik but he failed to play a big innings as Kritagya Singh bowled him for 20. Owais was more aggressive and before falling prey to Shaurya Singh, contributed 43 runs plundering 5 boundaries and 3 sixes.Meerut lost both of them in 5.1 overs on 71 runs. Rituraj and captain Madhav Kaushik thereafter dominated the match and pulled their teams score to 182 for 2 after 15 overs and both completed their half centuries. Kaushiks fifty came in 27 balls with the help of 3 boundaries and 4 sixes and it was his third successive half century. At this juncture, Rituraj did hara-kiri and played a reverse stroke and handed a straight catch to Al Zafar at the third slip off Kritagya Singh. He contributed 70 runs hitting 6 boundaries and 4 sixes.Rituraj and Madhav Kaushik scored 121 runs for third wicket which gave a solid base to post the highest score. Madhav too left the ground when Kritagya trapped him in front of the wicket. Madhav had survived a stump in the previous delivery hitting 4 boundaries and the same number of sixes.Rinku Singh, after showing a glimpse of a grand finisher image, fell prey to Yash Dayal when Sudhanshu caught him at the deep fine leg. His contribution was 12 runs. The wickets thereafter fell at regular intervals and in between the Meerut team posted a total of 239 runs.
