Kanpur: Kanpur once counted among the three biggest economically prosperous cities of the country. Previous governments only retarded the economic progress of the city. Today, projects worth Rs 500 crore are being inaugurated and foundation stones are being laid, while new schemes are also in the offing, said Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath here on Saturday.He was addressing a gathering in the Anusuchit Samaj Sammelan atChiranji Lal National Inter college in the city.Yogi said Kanpur was now recognised as a metro city. Kanpur is also emerging as a new centre of the Defence Manufacturing Corridor. The double engine government has taken up the process of developing a new Industrial Development Center on the lines of Noida on 38,000 acres of land from Kanpur to Jhansi, said the CM.He said work being done here for modern infrastructure was going to prove to be a milestone in changing the picture and destiny of Kanpur as well as the entire Kanpur-Bundelkhand region. This double engine government is working with commitment to restore Kanpur and Bundelkhand to its past glory, he said.Earlier, Yogi inaugurated the Ved Vyas Gram Vikas Project worth Rs 1.56 crore for better rehabilitation of families of the devotees who were killed in a road accident in Kortha village on October 2, 2022. Besides, 152 development projects worth Rs 501 crore were also gifted to Kanpur.On this occasion, the Chief Minister performed the Annaprashan Sanskar of three infants (Divyanshi, Arnav and Mohit) and flagged off 100 hopper tripper vehicles for waste management. He also watched a film based on a Citizen Facilitation Centre.He symbolically distributed house keys, benefits, tool kits and smartphones, tablets and sewing machines to the beneficiaries of various schemes including Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, ODOP, Swami Vivekananda, State Vishwakarma Shram Samman.Expressing respect for the Scheduled Castes, CM Yogi said today you will see Baba Saheb Ambedkars picture in every government office. During the Samajwadi Party government, the name of the medical college in Tirwa Kannauj was changed, he said and added, Even names of the historical monuments and buildings related to these Holy people were changed. If you remember, the Samajwadi Party changed the name of the medical college in Kannaujs Tirwa that was named after Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar, but SP goons destroyed the foundation stone of the college.He said that on the occasion of Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti, Akhand Ramayana is being recited in every temple. Previous governments were afraid their vote bank might slip if they organised such holy events related to Maharishi Valmiki, Bhagwan Baba Ved Vyas, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar and Sant Ravidas. Programmes were also not allowed to be organised in Lord Rams name, he said.He added, This double engine government does what it says and the proof lies in the schemes of the government and the efforts being made to connect every poor with these schemes. Dont worry, this double engine government and every worker of the Bharatiya Janata Party is right beside you.Recalling the Kortha incident, CM Yogi said that about a year ago, the 35 families coming from a yatra in Kanpur Dehat had become orphans and their livelihood was in danger after the accident. Today, in the name of Maharishi Valmiki, an entire township has been established for them, where every affected person has been given a house each. Government is the one which stands with you in a crisis. This double engine government is the government that will stand together in times of crisis, he said.Giving another example, the CM said MLA Rahul Bachha Sonkars father was martyred during the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi movement. People believed the family was orphaned, but BJP did not allow anyone to be orphaned. Once we hold hands, we never let go and work to advance them with respect, he said.The CM said that one cabinet ministers died untimely during the Corona period. Today, her daughter Swapnil Varun is giving leadership as District Panchayat President, he said.Referring to the governments schemes to give respect to the backward castes, Yogi said the state government had decided the government will guarantee minimum wages to all sanitation workers. We have formed a committee under the leadership of the chief secretary, he said and added, We have said that concrete arrangements should be made to ensure that no one exploits them. Today, you can see the government schemes reaching every poor without any discrimination. Every Dalit, every deprived person is getting the benefits of the schemes. Today, we can see how the efforts made at the government level to effectively deliver the benefits of the schemes to those people are bearing fruit. He said that more than 1.54 crore families get free electricity connections and work has also been done to provide free LPG connections to 1.75 crore families. Remember, the double engine government also did the work of providing free ration and maintenance allowance and free vaccines during the Corona period, he said.
