Almost 100% placement in NIS, cos offer awards

Kanpur: With 150 campus recruitments already done, students of alcohol technology and sugar engineering courses of the National Sugar Institute, Kanpur are almost 100% placed. With more companies scheduled to conduct interviews, number of placements in other courses will increase further. Reputed sugar companies have also confirmed scholarship and awardsfor meritorious students.While Balrmapur chini mills has announced Padamshri Meenakshi Saraogi Gold Medal and cash award to topper of the sugar technology course, Dalmia Bharat sugars will give Dalmia Bharat Gold Medal and scholarship to topper of alcohol technology course. DCM Shriram industries and some other companies have also proposed to extend awards and scholarships to students of sugar engineering and quality control courses, said the institutes director Professor Narendra Mohan. The announcement was made by Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin and Venu Srinivasan, chairman emeritus of TVS Motor.Sugar co Bajaj Hindusthan out of IBC netThe NCLT has permitted SBI to withdraw its insolvency petition against Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar as the company has cleared its outstanding dues. SBI stated that the company has also committed to paying its future dues. Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar owed over Rs 4,000 crore to lenders, with SBIs exposure being around Rs 1,200 crore. The news led to a 7.9% increase in the companys shares on the stock exchange.CPCB orders 45 of 105 Maharashtra sugar units shutThe Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has ordered the closure of 45 cooperative sugar factories in Maharashtra for violating environmental regulations. This is the first time such a large number of sugar units have been served with closure notices. The CPCB has asked the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) to inspect and verify the closures, and ensure that the sugar units do not resume operations without obtaining clearance from the CPCB. However, closing the units may prove difficult due to the political influence of the factory owners.
