Spl diptheria vaccination drive at all dist schools from Nov 1

Kanpur: The health department will launch a special vaccination drive against Diphtheria – Pertussis Tetanus and Tetanus –Diphtheria (TD) for school children from November 1, 2023.The vaccination campaign will run from November 1 to 10 in all the government and private sector schools of the district said chief medical officer Kanpur Nagar Alok Ranjan.He stated that cases of diphtheria disease were reported in some districts of the state following which the government has taken this initiative in the entire state. Before the campaign, teachers of the respective schools would take consent from parents for vaccination through parent meeting and school diary. Those parents who would not give consent would be motivated for vaccination of their children. The CMO appealed to all the school principals and teachers to make all efforts to make this campaign 100 percent successful.Additional chief medical officer and district immunization officer UB Singh said that the school based vaccination programmes would be organized in all government and private schools between November 1 to 10 on non-vaccination days like November 2, 3, 6 and 7.Vaccination sessions might be scheduled for November 9 and 12 to cover the missed schools or children. The basic education officer and district inspector of school had been contacted for cooperation, he added.District immunization officer apprised that children up to five years studying in class 1 would be covered with DPT second booster dose, children up to 10 years studying in class Vth would be covered with TD first dose and children up to 16 years studying in class 10th would be covered with TD booster dose .Availability of necessary kits for Adverse Event Following Immunization (AEFI) management and necessary medicines for management of fever after DPT has been ensured at each vaccination session, the district immunization officer added.We also published the following articles recentlySpeeding truck hits school van, injures four children in UPs BareillyFour children between the ages of 8 and 10 were injured when a speeding truck hit their school van in Bareilly district. The truck fled the scene and the injured children were taken to a private hospital. Two of the children suffered fractures, while the other two had head injuries. The van driver, who was operating without a permit, also sustained minor injuries. The police have launched an investigation and are collecting CCTV footage to identify the truck responsible for the accident. This incident comes just 24 hours after a similar incident in the neighboring Shahjahanpur district.Schools offer trial classes for admission seekersSeveral international schools in Bengaluru, India are offering trial classes for potential students to help them make informed choices. These trial classes allow children to experience a regular day at the school and participate in activities. The option is only available to select parents after two rounds of interaction with the school. Some schools even offer trial boarding experiences to give children a feel for both weekdays and weekends at the school. However, not all schools permit trial classes, as they believe it is unfair to judge a school based on a single days experience.Delhi state school games start, 3.5k schools take partThe Delhi State School Games, aimed at nurturing emerging sports talent in schools, has begun with participation from over 3,500 government, government-aided, and private recognized schools. The competition features 32 games across three age categories, with winners advancing to the Delhi State School Games 2023-24. Additionally, sports activities for children with disabilities are being organized in nine different disciplines. The government hopes to encourage grassroots participation, promote a healthy lifestyle, and identify budding sports talent through this annual event. Education Minister Atishi emphasized the importance of sports in acquiring knowledge and developing dedication.
