After munadi, cops paste notice for attachment of ex-BJP neta’s property

Kanpur: The police on Monday pasted a notice on the house of a former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader declaring him as absconder.The court had recently declared Priyaranjan Ashu Diwakar as absconder in farmer Babu Singh suicide case of Chakeri.In case he fails to appear before the court in a months time, his property will be attached. The police also conducted munadi (made a public announcement) about the former BJP leaderbeing declared absconder during the pasting of notice on his house in Shyamnagar Chakeri area of the city.The munadi exercise is a part of section 82 of Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) and is used when a warrant against an accused cannot be executed.A senior police officer said: Priyaranjan, against whom the non-bailable warrant was issued by the court, failed to appear before it. Therefore, in compliance with section 82 of CrPC, apart from munadi, the proclamation notice was put up on the wall of his house as well. Earlier, the police had postponed the issuance of attachment notice and munadi process against the expelled BJP leader following the demise of his ailing elderly mother on October 22.Farmer Babu Singh, a resident of Chakeri village, had committed suicide by jumping in front of a train on September 9. He had left a suicide note addressing the chief minister, accusing the expelled BJP leader of grabbing his land worth several crores. Thereafter, on the complaint of his wife Bitan, the police filed a case against the leader, nephew Jitendra, Bablu Yadav, Rahul Jain, Madhur Pandey and Shivam Singh at Chakeri police station under relevant IPC sections including land grabbing by fraud, abetment of suicide.In the same case, the accused Jitendra is absconding. The police have so far arrested Rahul Jain and Madhur Pandey, while other accused including the former BJP leader are absconding. Former Jaipur mayor Jyoti Khandelwal criticized the Congress for sidelining dedicated workers.
