Admin plans to beautify Jhakarkati pond

Kanpur: The district administration will renovate and beautify the pond near the interstate bus terminal in Jhakarkati. Along with other officials, district magistrate Vishak G Iyer and municipal commissioner Shivasharanappa GN inspected the pond and discussed its beautificationon Wednesday. The pond belongs to railways and its administration has issued no-objection certificate to the district administration for its beautification.Iyer directed municipal corporation chief engineer to ensure that basic plan/action plan regarding the renovation/beautification of the pond must be prepared within a week. The chief engineer was also directed to ensure the cleaning of the pond.After pitching and lining work on the banks of the pond, pathways and lighting arrangement be ensured to develop it as an attraction in the middle of the city. An action plan was presented after selecting a site for parking, during which, Mohammad Yaseen Khan of irrigation department and PWD engineer Rakesh Kumar, KMC chief engineer Manish Kumar Awasthi and zonal engineer Vinay Pratap Singh were present during the visit.
