Kanpur: To aid the development authorities which lack funds to develop new townships, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has decided to provide funds to the tune of Rs 1,580 crore under Urban Expansion/New city encouragement scheme as seed capital to five development authorities and housing development boards to acquire lands in the state.Under the scheme, the Kanpur Development Authority has recieved Rs 200 crore of which Rs 150 crore would be spent on New Kanpur City Project and Rs 50 crore will be as the first instalment for Bingawan Housing project.New Kanpur City project was announced in 1996 and the Kanpur Development Authority had presented the proposal again in the investors summit. The KDA had later sent the project proposal for sanction before the state government.A cabinet meeting was held on Monday night in which the housing and urban planning departments proposal was passed. District magistrate Vishak G Iyer said that land acquisition proceedings had already been completed. The Lieutenant Governor expressed surprise that the project was started without the necessary land parcels and emphasized the importance of timely acquisition. The project aims to provide seamless connectivity between Mayur Vihar-1 and Sarai Kale Khan.Sardar Patel Jayanti: Prime Minister Narendra Modi to launch development projects in Gujarats EktanagarPrime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the Statue of Unity in Gujarat on October 31 to commemorate Sardar Patel Jayanti. He will participate in the National Unity Day celebration and inaugurate various development projects, including the Green Initiative. The projects under the initiative include the introduction of e-buses, a public bike-sharing program, city gas distribution, and golf carts for transportation. Additionally, a visitor center, Kamalam Park, and infrastructure projects are being inaugurated. The Narmada Aarti will also be live-streamed, and infrastructure development, including a walkway and a sub-district hospital, is underway in Ektanagar. The Sahakar Bhavan, a cooperative building, and the Ekta Skill Development Centre will also be inaugurated.
