Prepare ghats for Chhath puja: Mayor to officials

Kanpur: Mayor Pramila Pandey on Friday visited Armapur Ghat and CTI canal in the wake of Chhath puja and directed the officials to clean and prepare all ghats where Chhath Puja is being done every year.The Mayor directed the officials to also decorate the ghats and with proper lighting arrangements. She stated that a large crowd throngs these ghats to offer their prayers, therefore all necessary preparations should be done before the puja days.We also published the following articles recentlyBarricade all Ganga ghats in city for Chhath festival: DCThe divisional commissioner of Patna has ordered regular monitoring of the water level in the Ganga river and the barricades at all ghats in preparation for the Chhath festival. The festival involves devotees offering prayers and standing in the holy water. The water level is currently declining and is expected to decrease by one meter by the festival. The district administration is making arrangements at multiple ghats and deploying police personnel and magistrates for the event. Safety measures such as signage marks, watch towers, and changing rooms will also be implemented.Vande Bharat special train for Diwali, ChhathIn order to accommodate the increased number of passengers during Diwali and Chhath, the Indian railways will be running special festival trains between New Delhi and Patna. The Vande Bharat and Rajdhani Express trains will operate on specific dates, departing from New Delhi and arriving in Patna on the same day. The return journeys will also have designated dates, departing from Patna and arriving in New Delhi on the same day.Remove puja banners, frames by weekendThe Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) has issued notices to puja committees, urging them to remove bamboo structures holding banners and flexes. The Mayor expressed frustration over the delay in removing these structures, which are causing traffic problems. If the structures are not removed soon, the civic body will take action and confiscate the bamboo. The Mayor also highlighted the need to repair roads that were damaged during the festival preparations.
