Cooch Behar trophy: UP to clash with HP on Nov 17

Kanpur: Starting its campaign in the under-19 for Cooch Behar Trophy from November 17, UP will clash with Himachal Pradesh.To select the best team from available talent, UPCA conducted a fitness-cum-trial coaching camp for the under-19 which concluded at Kamla Club ground here on Saturday.Kapil Dev Pandey, head of the junior selection committee, and others witnessed the aspirants fitness and cricketskills on the ground during the last seven days.As many as 64 young players participated in the trial matches held during the camp.Talking to TOI, Kapil Pandey said that the selection committee would sit in a couple of days to select the UP team for Cooch Behar Trophy for the under-19 cricket tournament scheduled to commence from November 17.UP, which is in elite Group D with Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi, Karnataka and Uttarakhand, will play against Himachal Pradesh at Victoria Park Meerut.Nov. 17 to 20: UP v/s Himachal Pradesh in MeerutNov. 24 to 27: UP v/s J&K in JammuDec. 1 to 4: UP v/s Delhi in MeerutDec. 8 to 11: UP v/s Karnataka in MysoreDec.15 to 18: UP v/s Uttarakhand in Kashipur. The initiative includes the construction of rainwater harvesting structures and check dams in affected areas. A task force has been formed at the block and panchayat levels to ensure water conservation. Additionally, the central government is working on conserving and beautifying ponds under the Amrit Sarovar Yojana to increase water levels.
