2 fire accidents in city, no casualty reported

Kanpur: Two accidents kept fire department and police on their toes in the city on Monday. The first fire accident was reported from a fast food shop in front of Kanpur Vidya Mandir in Swaroop Nagar area. The shop was closed on Monday due to the festival and after noticing smoke followed by flames emanating from the shop, the locals alerted the landlord and the fire department and police were informed.Meanwhile, fire engulfed four adjacent shops and a warehouse of decorative items.A family living on the third floor of the building got trapped. On receiving information from the locals, chief fire officer Deepak Sharma reached the spot with four fire tenders from different fire stations and those trapped in the fire were rescued. Later, deputy commissioner of police (Central) Pramod Kumar and additional deputy commissioner of police Aarti Singh reached the spot. Fire brigade personnel brought down safely members of the trapped family, including Sharad, his wife Sunita Devi, and daughter-in-law Aastha and two others, with the help of ladders. The fire was controlled completely after about two and a half hours of efforts.Another fire accident was reported from an electronics warehouse at Karrahi located in Barra police station area. On Monday, on seeing flames emanating from a warehouse in the densely populated Karrahi area, the residents of the area alerted the fire brigade. Several fire tenders were pressed into service and the fire was brought under control after a couple of hours. According to the reports, on Diwali, a large quantity of electronic goods were stored for sale at the warehouse of electronics trader. The damage caused by the fire is being assessed by the owner of the electronic goods shop. CFO Deepak Sharma however said the cause of fire in both the incidents was being investigated. The incident occurred at Kendua Bazar, with the fire spreading to adjacent shops and gutting a total of 7 shops. The victims were identified as the mother, sister, and daughter of the shop owner, who were not present at the time of the fire. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.Thane: Diwali rocket leads to fire in furniture shop in UlhasnagarA furniture shop in Ulhasnagar, Maharashtra was destroyed by a fire caused by a Diwali rocket. The rocket fell from a shop window, igniting garbage stored on the second floor. The fire quickly spread throughout the shop, forcing workers to flee. Fire officials were able to control the fire after about an hour and prevent it from spreading to nearby shops. In a separate incident, a fire broke out in an electronic shop in Bhiwandi, causing significant losses to three shopkeepers.
