Camp to test & treat TB patients from Nov 23

Kanpur: The Tuberculosis department is making continuous efforts to make TB-free India campaign successful by emphasizing on quick examination and treatment of the disease. To achieve this goal, the department is set to commence an active case-finding campaign to identify TB patients from November 23, 2023 in the city.District TB officer RP Mishra on Friday trained medical officers of all TB units of the district TB disease center.Mishra said, Twenty per cent of the population will be screened under the special campaign. Immediate treatment will be provided tot those who test positive.As per government guidelines, an Active Case Finding (ACF) campaign would be conducted from November 23 to December 5 and several other activities to increase sensitization towards TB will be conducted between November 20 and December 31, he added. Deputy district tuberculosis officer, Rajeshwar Singh said that a total of 335 teams and 67 supervisors have been deployed for the campaign, during which, sensitization would be done against TB by organizing camps in residential complexes like orphanages, old age homes, Nari Niketan, child protection homes, madrassas and hostels and sputum samples of the symptomatic person would be collected, he told TOI.tnnWe also published the following articles recentlyMolecular testing to replace age-old sputum to detect TBMolecular tests are set to replace sputum microscopy as the initial test for tuberculosis (TB) detection. ISRO chairman S Somanath stated that the agency is targeting November-December for the launches, one using the PSLV and the other using the GSLV-Mk2. The GSLV-Mk2 launch is also important as it prepares the launch vehicle for the NASA-Isro Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR) in early 2024.
