Kanpur: Municipal commissioner Shivasharanappa G N apprised district magistrate Vishakh G Iyer that Kanpur Municipal Corporation (KMC) would conduct the redevelopment and beautification of Jhakarkati bus stand pond in several phases and in the first phase a sum of Rs 5 crore would be spent on it.The municipal commissioner was part of an interdepartmental coordination meeting held for discussing Jhakarkati bus stand ponds beautification under the chairmanship of the DM on Friday.The pond is spread over a 3.6 hectare area and adjacent to the inter-state bus terminal in citys Jhakarkati area.The KMC head informed that under redevelopment and beautification, the pond would be decorated with water activity, fitness activity, cultural activity, urban haat, light and sound show, boating in pond, greenery and relaxation zone, yoga and meditation zone and amphitheatre. The DM directed that the executive engineer should coordinate with the municipal corporation, Jal Nigam officials to ensure that necessary action be taken to divert the untapped drains discharging their waste into the pond.To beautify the pond, at least two or more entrances should be established, so that the traffic system is not affected and adequate parking arrangements must be available at the entrances, the DM said. The first entrance is proposed towards GT Road and the second towards the metro station, he added.
