Kanpur: A man allegedly strangled his son to death over his drinking habit in the Chakeri area of the City on Monday.On being informed, senior police officials, including deputy commissioner of police (East), reached the spot and initiated investigation. A forensic team later arrived at the site and collected evidence. Deepak Nishad (25), who used to work as a carpenter, lived with his father Ganesh Nishad and mother Sunita in Sanjeev Nagar area of Ahirwa in Chakeri.The neighbours informed the police that Deepak was married to Fatehpur resident Suman about a couple of years ago following some dispute with Deepak, Suman went to live at her maternal home, and since then Deepak became an alcoholic, the police said.People said that Deepak used to fight with his parents almost every day under the influence of liquor, police said and added, even on the day of Bhai Dooj, he had quarrelled with his parents, due to which his mother went to her maternal home in Sarsaiya Ghat, and since then only father and son were living at home. Deepaks aunt Rekha, who lives in the nearby area, visited their house on Monday morning but when she did not get any response, she went inside the house and saw Deepak lying dead on the stairs. After this, she alerted the neighbours, who in turn informed the Chakeri police about the incident. DCP (East) Tej Swaroop said that there was a fight between the father and son who was under the influence of alcohol. There were injuries on body of deceased.The exact cause of death will be clear from the autopsy report. The mans father fled from the spot.
