Passengers panic as smoke rises from wheels of exp train

Kanpur: Smoke emanating from wheels of 15039-Kanpur-Anwarganj-Kasganj Express after its brakes got jammed triggered panic among the train passengers near Bilhaur railway station here on Thursday.The incident took place at around 4.30 pm when the train, going to Farrukhabad from Kanpur, suddenly came to a halt due to a brake jam near Subhanpur village near Bilhaur railway station.When the train was heading towards Farrukhabad, the brakes of the trains fourth coach from the rear suddenly jammed. As the train was at a high speed, a thick smoke emanated from its wheel, a communique issued by Kanpur Commissionerate police stated. This triggered panic among passengers. The problem was, however, rectified soon, The train has left for Farrukhabad, the communique stated further. Meanwhile, PRO Izzatnagar division of North Eastern Railway Rajendra Singh said, Smoke emanated following brake binding in one of the coaches of the train jammed. The fault was rectified on the spot. Among the new trains are Saharsa-Raipur special, Darbhanga-Ahmedabad special, Jabalpur-Danapur special, Darbhanga-New Delhi special, New Delhi-Purnia special, and Mumbai-Danapur special. The railways has also decided to run special trains on various routes including Patna-Anand Vihar, Howrah-Patna, Howrah-Gaya, Ajmer-Barauni, Danapur-Manmad, Danapur-Nagpur, Danapur-Bhusawal, Puri-Jayanagar, and Udhna-Katihar.
