Case of contempt of court against ex-BJP leader

Kanpur: A case of contempt of Court has been registered against the former Bharatiya Janata Party leader Priyaranjan Ashu Diwakar, the main accused in the suicide caseof farmer Babu Singh in Chakeri area of Kanpur, on Wednesday. He is absconding. On the other hand, Rahul Jain, who bought Babu Singhs land, came out of jail on bail from the HC. Farmer Babu Singh Yadav of Chakeri, had committed suicide by jumping from a train on September 9.In his suicide note, he had accused Priyaranjan of fraudulently grabbing land worth Rs 6 crore. An FIR was lodged against Priyaranjan and his associates -Jitendra, Bablu, Rahul Jain, Madhur Pandey and Shivam Chauhan on the complaint of Babu Singhs wife Bitan Devi. Singh, who was arrested on October 4, had moved the top court challenging the High Court verdict. The EDs money laundering case is based on the CBI FIR, which alleges irregularities in the now-scrapped Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22. Singh is accused of playing a key role in the formulation and implementation of the policy for monetary considerations.
