Car crash kills 4, including youth about to get married

Kanpur: Four persons, including a youth who was to be married next week, died, while five others were seriously injured when the car they were travelling in rammed into a roadside tree in Gajner area of Kanpur Dehat district early on Thursday. The marriage of Jai Singh (deceased), son of Rajpal Singh, resident of Bhaithana, Gajner, was to be solemnised on November 28. According to the family, he had gone to Auraiya to take his sister and relatives to attend the occasion and was returning home with them, when the tragedy occurred, said Kanpur Dehat superintendent of police BBGTS Murthy. Both of them died on the spot along with others. Police said that the accident occurred around 1.30 am on Thursday near Hridaypur Pama when the driver of the car apparently dozed off and the car crashed into a roadside tree, resulting in the death of four people, police said.The victims were identified as Jai Singh (25), son of Rajpal, resident of Bhaithana; his sister Priya Sengar (40), wife of Pritam Singh and their relatives, Ranno Devi (70) and Priya (14), daughter of Ramprakash – all residents of Banthara Bidhuna in Auraiya. Senior police officers rushed to the spot and supervised the rescue operation. The injured were taken to the district hospital, from where they were referred to Kanpurs Lala Lajpat Rai hospital.The injured have been identified as car driver Pradeep Kumar (35), resident of Bhagirathpur Gajner, Parul alias Pragya (14), Palak alias Pratiksha (16), Kanhaiya (10) and Ansh (8).
