2 killed by speeding car on highway in Etawah district

Kanpur: Two devotees died after being hit by an unknown vehicle on Etawah- Gwalior -Bareilly highway in Badhpura police area of Etawah district on Friday night. The accident took place while the devotees were crossing the road to reach dhaba.Police said that devotees mostly from Bhind district of Madhya Pradesh were going to Mathura in a sleeper bus for circumambulation of Govardhan hill.The bus stopped for refreshment at a dhaba in Badhpura police station area of Etawah- Gwalior-Bareilly Highway. It was while the devotees were crossing the road to go to the dhaba to have food, a 57-year old Ramsia, a primary school teacher and 59-year-old Lalta, residents of Daboh Hanuman Nagar, Bhind, were hit by aspeeding car coming from Etawah side. The two suffered grievous wounds, the police said.After the accident, the car driver fled from the spot. Badhpura police arrived on the information of fellow devotees and took both of them to the district hospital. But the doctors declared both of them brought dead, said the police. The police informed their family members about the accident.
