MBBS student had head injury, 16 broken bones: Autopsy report

Kanpur: A total of 16 injury marks and 16 broken bones were found on the dead MBBS students body, revealed the autopsy report on Tuesday. According to the report, the student died following excessive bleeding due to head injuries.Sahil Saraswat, a second-year MBBS student at Rama Medical College, Bithoor, was found dead in the basement of the Old Boys hostel on Sunday morning, a day after his 24th birthday.He was a native of Mathura district.DCP, West, Vijay Dhul, meanwhile, said no concrete evidence of murder has been found in the investigation so far. In such a situation, our investigation is progressing on both the aspects – murder and accident, he said. Police have registered a report against unknown people for murder and hiding evidence. To unravel the matter, the forensic team recreated the crime scene at the spot on Tuesday and collected evidence. Also, students have been banned from leaving the hostel until the investigation into the matter is completed.The forensic team got the entire hostel premises video-graphed. To investigate the matter, a drone camera was also used to capture photographs of every floor of the hostel. Old Boys Hostel has 155 rooms which accommodate 260 students.JCP Anand Prakash Tiwari said that on the day of the incident, going by the CCTV footage, Sahil was seen urinating outside his room around 2.30 am. A boy passing through the gallery in front had seen him. Then the boy went to his room. However, Sahil does not go towards his room, rather he goes towards the gallery. Till now, the police have not found any evidence in the CCTV footage of anyone including a college student or outsider meeting or following Sahil prior to the incident.
