KMC signs MoU with corporates for charging points of e-vehicles

Kanpur: The Kanpur Municipal Corporation (KMC) has entered into an agreement with two giants in the e- charging sector giants to encourage use and sale of electric vehicles in the city.It joined hands with Adani Total Energies Immobility Limited on Wednesday and with Tata Power EV Charging Solutions Limited (TPEV CSL), a Tata Power Group Companyand one of the leading EV Charging solutions providers in India, on Thursday.Both business houses signed a memorandum of association with the Kanpur Municipal Corporation.TPEVCS will install 12 EV charging stations across six strategic locations in Kanpur. These charging stations will be located strategically at key points across the city, including the zonal offices in Zone-2 and Zone-5 of Krishna Nagar, Sen Para Police Chowki between Apna Ghar Ashram and Road, Moti Jheel Parking/Kargil Park, the vicinity of Medical College at Gol Chauraha and the Childrens Park near OEF at Vijay Nagar Chauraha. Each of these locations will be equipped with two charging guns, totaling 12 charging points across the city. EV users will be able to locate these points using the Tata Power EZ Charge mobile app. The two collaborations signify beginning of a trailblazing initiative to revolutionise the EV infrastructure landscape in Kanpur. Virendra Goyal, head of business development (EV charging), Tata Power, said, Our partnership with the Kanpur Municipal Corporation is a significant stride in our journey, where we have consistently forged multiple partnerships with both government and private organisations to propel sustainable mobility initiatives nationwide. Kanpur holds special significance as the penetration of electric vehicles was on the rise, and strategically placing charging stations at key locations aligns seamlessly with our broader goals.By making electric mobility easily accessible to the residents of Kanpur, we aim to contribute to the States vision of a sustainable and electric future, fostering a cleaner and greener environment for all, Goyal added.Adani Group will also run e-charging centres in the city. The group will raise as many as 18 e-charging centres in the city under public private partnership in the first phase and maintain them.KMC entered into an agreement with Adani Total Energies Immobility Limited to protect the environment and encourage the use of electric vehicles in the city. The group will raise the charging centers and maintain them. KMC will also provide land to the group for the center. Municipal commissioner Shiv Sharanappa G N signed an agreement on Wednesday with Yash Batra, national head of the Adani Total Energy Immobility Limited. According to KMC sources, the company will establish the e-charging centres and make them operational within three months. At present, the city has only two e-charging centres, at Kargil Park, Moti Jheel and at Parag milk dairy in Nirala Nagar. In the absence of transformers, both are inoperative.Sharanappa said environment conservation was possible only by increasing number of e-vehicles. Batra said his companys objective was to make electronic mobility easy and smooth.
