Kanpur: A man who kidnapped a nine-year-old girl from the Ambedkar Park area of Hamirpur district on Wednesday evening was injured and arrested early Thursday morning after an encounter with the police.The girl, who had gone to Ambedkar Park with other children, was kidnapped on Wednesday evening.On the complaint of the girls maternal uncle Mohd Qadir, resident of Khalepura of Sadar Kotwali area, a case of kidnapping was registered in Kotwali Nagar police station.Subsequently, an investigation was initiated.Hamirpur SP Dr Deeksha Sharma said a team was formed to locate the whereabouts of the kidnapped girl. Efforts were made to find the girl through CCTV footage and in the process, a suspect was spotted and his details were posted on various social media platforms. He was identified as Surendra Dhuria (26), son of Ramdhir, resident of Kadaura district, Jalaun, said the SP and added, Following extensive search, the girl was recovered in a forest near the city at around 6:15 pm. The girl told investigators that the man who kidnapped her had escaped towards the city forest area. A joint combing operation was carried out by Kotwali Sadar Police and Special Operation Group team. At around 7 am, on Thursday, police found the man in the forest area.When policemen asked him to surrender, he opened fire from a country-made pistol at police team. When the policemen fired back, his left leg was injured.
