Kanpur: Sessions judge Kanpur Nagar Pradeep Kumar Singh on Friday sentenced Babu Khan and Waseem to life imprisonment for committing murder and and also imposed a fine to the tune of Rs 27,000 on each.According to ADGC Ravindra Awasthi, one Jagdish Maurya in his report lodged at the Bithoor police station on September 11, 2018 alleged that his elder brother Puttan Maurya was working as a guard at Pump Canal.On September 10, 2018 while he was on duty, Babu, Waseem and others had killed him in the night with a sharp-edged weapon.Police had arrested Babu Khan and Waseem on September 24, 2018 and recovered the weapon used in the murder from the hedges of Saksupurwa canal culvert on September 25.During the trial, a witness in his examination-in-chief stated that Naeem, Babu Khan, Waseem and their friends used to play cards at the Canal Pump and catch fish which was objected to several times by Puttan Maurya due to which they got annoyed with him and developed an enmity. Two days before the murder, a dispute had taken place between Puttan Maurya and Waseem, Babu Khan and Naeem when they reached there for fishing.
