Kanpur: Two-day long special registration campaign under Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) has been extended and now it will continue till December 8, 2023. Chief medical officer, Alok Ranjan apprised that in compliance of directions issued by the state government, the campaign had been extended for one week.A high level four member team reached here to monitor the progress of the campaign.The team visited Community Health Centre Sarsaul and Urban Centre at Harjindar Nagar.Divisional manager of National Health Mission/State family planning services project, Rajan Prasad and a team of district PMMVY was also present there.Nodal Officer RV Singh said - Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana is an ambitious scheme of the centre and state government, under which the target had been set to provide benefits to pregnant and lactating mothers on the birth of their first child and second child (girl). He said that in the two-day long special campaign, 284 beneficiaries were registered, out of, which 44 were registered in Kalyanpur, 31 in Chaubepur and 28 in Bhitargaon.District Program Coordinator Ghazala Iram said that under the scheme, wowen who gave birth in not only government, but private hospitals also are eligible beneficiaries. If a mother had a second child, she would not receive benefits related to the scheme. The benefit of the scheme will be available only if the second child is a girl.
